Ludo: rules and examples

Start Ludo by looking at the playing area and its controls. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Try a more deliberate round

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Refer to the controls when needed.

What counts as success

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Start with a deliberate move.

From the start of a round

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

See the idea in action

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Take a moment to compare.

Keep this in mind

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Compare the situation with the worked example. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
